The design was approved by the couple before being sent to George Osbourne, the Chancellor, for his verdict. It was ultimately given the go ahead by the Queen, whose portrait is on the reverse.
The coin was designed by Mark Richards, a fellow of the Royal Society of British Sculptors. The coin, which has a sale price of £9.99.
